A hive of activity – financial, industrial, transportation, communication and education – there can be little doubt Shanghai is the beating heart of China. But this photoessay is not about that, it’s about the city’s soul!
Look past the traffic, the hubbub and the hurry-scurry, and discover gentle people enjoying their community. Notwithstanding a dustup between two ladies of a certain age who, despite their Shanghainese pedigree, swore exclusively and colourfully in English, I’ve witnessed an overriding civility and elegance that make this a most livable metropolis.
